2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N Preview Hero

Hyundai is set to expand its N family of performance cars in the 2026 model year with the debut of the Ioniq 6 N. The nameplate’s introduction to all-electric performance driving will follow in the footsteps of the Ioniq 5 N, boasting a significant power increase and improved handling compared to the standard model. Output will more than double from the standard Ioniq 6’s 320 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. to 641 horsepower and 568 lb.-ft. of torque, enabling a predicted 0-to-60 mph acceleration time of 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 159 mph. Hyundai performance technologies, such as N Grin Boost, N e-Shift, and N Active Sound+, will counteract the quiet EV driving experience with heightened driver engagement and the feel and sound of a track car.

While speed and power will define the Ioniq 6 N, count on Hyundai to make sure it’s practical as well. It’s likely to have the same 84-kWh battery pack as the Ioniq 5 N, and it’s reasonable to expect that 10 to 80 percent battery capacity can be achieved in roughly 30 minutes using a DC fast charger. A North American Charging Standard (NACS) port and an 800-volt onboard module for fast-charging capability will make the Ioniq 6 N as functional for daily driving as it is exhilarating on the track.

Powertrain and Performance

Potential buyers can look to the Ioniq 5 N for a hint of the Ioniq 6 N’s performance: likely the same 641 horsepower and 568 lb.-ft. of torque, plus an all-wheel drivetrain. N Grin Boost will deliver a 10-second horsepower surge, N Torque Distribution will allow the driver to adjust the front-to-rear torque split manually while the N Drift Optimizer enables drift initiation, drift angle, and wheel spin adjustment. We can also assume that the single-speed reduction gear shift-by-wire transmission with regenerative braking paddles will work in tandem with N e-Shift, which replicates gear ratios to simulate traditional shifting, and N Ambient Shift Light, which coordinates shifting with the cabin’s ambient lighting. N Active Sound+ will let drivers choose among three sound modes to enhance the otherwise silent electric drive unit. We also anticipate standard Ioniq drive modes: Normal, Eco, and Sport, along with Hyundai’s N performance mode and two customizable drive settings. The Ioniq 6 N should ride on the same high-performance electronically controlled dampers as its Ioniq 5 N cousin, atop forged alloy wheels clad in Pirelli P-ZERO performance tires.

Features, Design, and Amenities

Hyundai’s existing N styling cues and furnishings are predicted to carry over to the Ioniq 6 N inside and out. The interior highlights are assumed to include the N-branded Alcantara and H-Tex-upholstered sport seats (heat and ventilated), a perforated leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with N-specific performance gauges. It’ll also certainly have wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and 64-color ambient interior lighting. The exterior will be defined by a low and aggressive front profile with a slim fascia and line-patterned LED headlights, joined by the distinctive front diffuser and side sills with Luminous Orange accents shared by the entire N family. Heated side mirrors (with integrated indicators for turns and blind-spot warnings), a power trunk, and a power charge-port door are also expected.

Safety and Driver-Assist Technology

The Ioniq 6 N will likely incorporate many of Hyundai’s latest SmartSense driver-assistance technologies. Based on the Ioniq 5 N’s current SmartSense suite, anticipated driver-assist features include Highway Driving Assist 2, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Curve Control, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, a blind-spot view monitor, forward collision avoidance-assist with evasive steering assist, lane keeping assist, haptic steering wheel feedback, lane following assist, intelligent speed limit assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, parking distance warning, rear parking collision-avoidance assist, driver attention warning, forward attention warning, safe exit alert, Advanced Rear Occupant Alert, high beam assist, and a surround-view monitor.

Infotainment and Connectivity

If the existing Ioniq 5 N’s infotainment suite is any indication of what is to come in the Ioniq 6 N, it will center around a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless smartphone connectivity (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), dynamic voice recognition, SiriusXM satellite radio, onboard navigation, Bluetooth connectivity, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an 8-speaker Bose audio system. It’s also not a stretch to predict the inclusion of Hyundai’s Bluelink+ and Hyundai Pay connected service packages.
