2025 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

SONATA Hybrid
Savvy folks know that Hyundai vehicles have long been considered synonymous with quality and value, and the Sonata Hybrid is a fine example of that. Most car shoppers know about America’s Best Warranty, which in and of itself is a huge advantage for every Hyundai model. But we took a close look at how this particular sedan stacks up against its biggest competitors in other categories.
First off, the base trim of the 2025 Sonata Hybrid, the SEL, has more trunk space, a larger infotainment touchscreen, and more driver-assistive safety tech than the base trim of its steadfast rival, the Toyota Camry. Another huge competitor, the top-level Honda Accord Touring Hybrid, matches the Sonata Hybrid’s top trim, the Limited, with a standard head-up display, ventilated front seats, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and premium audio system. The rest of the story, though, is that the Accord Hybrid will cost you nearly $2,000 more, while the Camry requires a significant upgrade package to get a similar set of features. Plus, the Hyundai achieves better highway fuel efficiency than both of those contenders.

The 2025 Sonata Hybrid has two trim choices: SEL Hybrid or Limited Hybrid. Their powertrain unites a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder hybrid engine with a 39 kW high-power density motor, a 270V lithium battery, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. This mechanical setup generates 192 horsepower and returns EPA-estimated fuel economy of 44 mpg around the city and 51 mpg on the highway. A front-wheel drivetrain is the rule. Both trims also have a drive mode selector, with settings that adjust the transmission, steering, and throttle response for specific situations on the road.
Standard Amenities
The SEL Hybrid has Hyundai Digital Key 2 and Proximity Key entry with push-button start. Its main interior features are premium cloth upholstery, heated front seats, dual automatic temperature control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an 8-way power driver seat, a 4-way power passenger seat, wireless device charging, a 4.2-inch gauge cluster, and four USB ports (two front/two rear). The Limited Hybrid gets fancy with real leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, and heated and ventilated front seats. Its other upgrades consist of rain-sensing windshield wipers, a head-up display, LED interior lights, ambient cabin lighting with 64 color settings, fender-mounted LED turn indicators, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, manually operated rear-side window sunshades, and a 12.3-inch LCD gauge cluster.
SmartSense Safety Aids
From obstacle detection and collision avoidance to braking and steering assistance, Hyundai’s SmartSense suite keeps safety at the forefront in the Sonata Hybrid.
