The 2025 Sonata lineup welcomes back the budget-friendly SE trim, providing buyers with a more accessible entry point into the midsized sedan segment. Hyundai has also brought in the well-equipped SEL Convenience trim, which was previously available as an optional package. The latest Sonata builds upon last year’s substantial refresh, which brought more confident design language and advanced technology features. The performance-oriented N Line trim continues to cater to driving enthusiasts with its potent engine and sport-tuned suspension.

America’s best warranty comes standard with every 2025 Hyundai and includes five years or 60,000 miles of bumper-to-bumper protection and powertrain safeguards for ten years or 100,000 miles. Hyundai also includes three years of complimentary standard scheduled maintenance, five years of unlimited-mileage roadside assistance, and a no-cost subscription to Bluelink+ connected services (for emergency help, vehicle monitoring, and other features).

Trims and Powertrains

The 2025 Hyundai Sonata is made in trims called SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, and N Line. Most of them have a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, but the N Line flexes its muscles with a turbocharged version of this powerplant that produces 290 horsepower. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox manages the N Line’s driveline. All trims come with front-wheel drive (FWD), while all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional for the SEL.

The SE is the most fuel-efficient Sonata, with EPA estimates of 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway. The SEL and SEL Convenience are rated for 25 mpg around town and 36 mpg on the open road (34 mpg highway for the SEL with all-wheel drive). The N Line achieves 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Standard Features

The SE is focused mostly on the essentials and has fabric upholstery, automatic LED headlights, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, a hands-free trunk release, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, a 4.2-inch driver information display, power side mirrors, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, three USB ports, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The SEL expands the comforts with dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver's seat, heated power side mirrors, and 17-inch wheels.

The most significant addition to the SEL Convenience trim is a panoramic sunroof, but the trim also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a digital key, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, wireless device charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, LED cabin lighting, and 18-inch wheels. Besides the potent turbocharged engine under the hood, the N Line shows off an athletic personality with a sport-tuned suspension, exclusive exterior treatments (including unique front and rear fascia), fender-mounted LED turn-signal indicators, twin-tip dual exhaust outlets, sport seats with microfiber inserts, a unique leather-wrapped steering wheel, aluminum sport pedals, multi-colored ambient cabin lighting, second-row air vents, and 19-inch wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2025 Sonatas have Hyundai SmartSense installed. This suite of advanced driver-assist features includes forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, driver attention warning, and safe exit warning. The N Line also gets highway driving assist (for improved lane centering and distancing). A full set of airbags is found on every trim, as are anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, hill start assist, and a rearview monitor with parking guidelines.

Infotainment and Connectivity

A 12.3-inch touchscreen hosts the Sonata’s infotainment system. The platform is supported by wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Navigation and dynamic voice recognition are included with the SEL Convenience and N Line. Most trims have a six-speaker audio system, which is upgraded to a 12-speaker Bose arrangement in the N Line. All trims have access to Bluelink+ connected services, while the SEL Convenience and N Line also get a Wi-Fi hotspot.
