IONIQ 5
Hyundai has made some upgrades on the 2025 Ioniq 5, starting with making it compatible with Tesla’s DC fast-charging network, which effectively doubles the charge-station options for Ioniq 5 drivers while also opening the door to super-fast charging. Hyundai also upped the battery capacity in both the standard-range and long-range versions, raising the Ioniq 5’s driving range across the board. And when customers speak, Hyundai listens: the Ioniq 5 now has more user-friendly climate control, a standard rear windshield wiper, and a better-positioned wireless charging pad.
Another significant and exciting development is the addition of the XRT trim, a sport-focused version of the Ioniq 5 with a +23mm suspension lift, standard all-wheel drive, and unique styling. Hyundai has also refreshed the whole trim lineup with a redesigned steering wheel and bumpers, more aerodynamic wheel styles, and a modified rear spoiler. There are also three new paint colors: Celadon Gray Matte, Atlas White Matte, and Ecotronic Gray Matte. The base trim, the SE Standard Range, has been improved with standard Hyundai Digital Key 2, Smart Cruise Control 2, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while the SEL and higher trims get heated rear outboard seats.

The Ioniq 5’s trim levels are called SE Standard Range, SE, SEL, XRT, and Limited. One electric motor, a single-speed reduction gear transmission, and a high-voltage battery make up the standard rear-wheel drive (RWD) powertrain. An all-wheel drive (AWD) setup is available with two electric motors and the same high-voltage battery and transmission. The XRT comes with AWD, which is an option for the SE, SEL, and Limited; the SE Standard Range is made only with RWD.
The power specs for the RWD setup are 168 hp for the SE Std. Range and 225 hp (258 lb.-ft. of torque) for the other trims. The AWD configuration increases performance to 320 horsepower and 446 lb.-ft. of torque. Driving ranges differ by trim, with the SE Standard Range yielding 245 miles on a full change and efficiency that translates to 131 MPGe city/100 MPGe highway. The SE and SEL come in with estimated 129 MPGe in the city, 100 MPGe on the highway, and a driving range of 318 miles with RWD. With AWD, those two trims will take you 290 miles at 116 MPGe city and 96 MPGe highway. The XRT achieves an estimated 103 MPGe city/85 MPGe highway, with a 259-mile driving range. The Limited brings in the same estimated mileage numbers as the SE and SEL with RWD, but the AWD configuration produces 108 MPGe city/88 MPGe highway, with a range of 269 miles.
Charging Times
Charging times are varied as well, with the SE Standard Range taking around five hours and 40 minutes to go from 10% to 100% on a standard 240V AC Level II charger. Rapid charging at 50 kW takes a bit over an hour to get it from 10% to 80%, while in just 20 minutes this base trim can go from 10% to 80% with a 250-kW source. The SE and higher trims will go from 10% to 100% in approximately 7 hours and 10 minutes with an AC Level II charger, and from 10% to 80% in just one hour and 21 minutes with a 50 kW fast charger. A 250-kW outlet will need only 20 minutes to juice up these higher trims from 10% to 80%.
Standard Features
The Ioniq 5 SE Standard Range and SE are identical in amenities, with just their drivetrain and performance stats differing. They’re both outfitted with proximity key entry, heated front seats, an 8-way power driver seat, flush door handles with automatic retraction, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, two zones of automatic temperature control, a steering wheel wrapped in faux leather, a sound-reducing front windshield, stain-resistant fabric upholstery, heated exterior mirrors, a hands-free smart power tailgate with auto-open and adjustable height setting, LED automatic headlights/daytime running lights/taillights/center high-mount brake light, three USB ports each in the first and middle rows, and 19-inch alloy wheels. The SEL improves the equipment roster with leatherette upholstery, a heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, a wireless device charger, an 8-way power passenger seat, rear A/C vents, power-folding heated side mirrors, LED projector-type headlights and a rearview mirror with auto-dim feature and HomeLink.

This trim also features Vehicle-to-Load capability, which allows the automobile to power devices like TVs and tools; it can also be called on to charge other EVs.
At the top, the Limited provides exceptional comfort with a driver’s seat that has a relaxation mode and position memory. This loaded trim also comes with heated and ventilated front seats, 64-color ambient interior lighting, a HomeLink-equipped digital rearview mirror, a deluxe head-up display, rain-sensing wipers, and sunshades for the second-row side windows. Externally, a vision roof, silver body cladding and bumpers, LED front accent lighting, premium side sills, and glossy black accents.
