2025 Hyundai Kona Electric
2025 Hyundai
KONA Electric
The Hyundai Kona Electric delivers on so many levels. Its compact size makes it easy to maneuver, yet the interior offers a surprising 63.7 cubic feet of cargo space (maximum). Its design is well ahead of its time, yet not out of place. That said, it’s this EV’s value that deserves most of your attention.
Along with the aforementioned attributes, few EVs can match the reasonable pricing, long list of standard amenities, and class-leading warranties of the Kona Electric. Yes, Hyundai is known for America’s best warranty coverage, including a 10 year/100,000-mile hybrid/electric battery warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection. This season, Hyundai has expanded its sport-forward N-Line trim to the 2025 Kona Electric lineup, while also adding a new paint color it calls Ultimate Red Metallic. Also, the innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature, which allows the SUV to act as a power source for electric tools, small appliances, and even other EVs, is now standard on every trim.
Shop Hyundai Kona EVTrims, Powertrain, and Range
Look for the 2025 Kona Electric in four trim levels: SE, SEL, N-Line, and Limited. The SE gets the base powertrain: a 99-kW electric motor, a 269V lithium-ion battery, and a single-speed reduction gear transmission that combines for 133 horsepower, 188 lb.-ft. of torque, and a range of 200 miles. The SEL and higher have the same single-speed reduction gear transmission paired with a 150-kW electric motor and 358V battery. This system has an output of up to 201 horsepower and 188 lb.-ft. of torque, but range varies by trim level. The SEL and Limited have a 261-mile range while the N-Line returns slightly less with a range of 230 miles. Front-wheel drive is standard on every trim, as is a drive mode selector with four settings: Eco, Sport, Snow, and Normal.
Charging
While every Kona Electric is equipped with a 11-kW onboard charger, the actual charging times differ based on the powertrain. The SE can go from 10 percent to 100 percent in about five hours using a Level II charger, while the higher trims take just over six hours to fully recharge. With a 50 kW Level III quick charger, the battery can go from 10% to 80% in just 43 minutes.
Standard Amenities
The SE exterior comes with a Proximity Key with remote entry/start, heated side mirrors, 17-inch alloy wheels, and LED lighting (automatic projector headlights, daytime running lights, combination taillights, and the center, high-mounted brake light). The interior highlights are a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual automatic temperature control, cloth upholstery, four USB ports (two front/two rear), and V2L capability. The SEL adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, LED interior lighting, second-row climate vents, and roof rails.
The aggressively styled N-Line has these trim-exclusive features: unique front and rear fascia, a distinctive front grille, 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss-black side mirrors, a twin-design rear spoiler, black window trim, N-Line badging, synthetic suede sport seating, driver and passenger door scuff accents, an N-Line-specific steering wheel wrapped in leather, and metal sport pedals. Although it’s foremost an appearance-focused trim, the N-Line also adds a power sunroof, wireless device charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and ambient interior lighting. The Limited has simulated leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, the HomeLink remote system, a hands-free smart liftgate, a rear spoiler with satin chrome finish, and full-line LED daytime running lights and taillights.
SmartSense Safety Aids
Hyundai’s SmartSense safety technologies are the foundation for every ‘25 Kona Electric. All trims have forward-collision-avoidance assist (pedestrian detection/junction turning/direct oncoming), driver attention warning, highway driving assist, navigation-based smart cruise control with stop and go, intelligent speed limit assist, blind-spot collision warning, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning, rear occupant alert, and high beam assist. As the highest-priced trim, the Limited has four safety upgrades: a surround view monitor, blind-spot view monitor, parking distance warning (forward/side/reverse), and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch color touchscreen infotainment system is the rule on every trim. Its standard features are navigation, Bluetooth hands-free, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Hyundai Pay capability, and Bluelink+ services. The N-Line and Limited trims add a premium Bose audio system and access to the Hyundai Digital Key 2 smartphone feature.
