Trims and Powertrain

Hyundai offers a Santa Fe for a variety of buyers, with five trim choices: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy. Their turbocharged 2.5-liter engine makes 277 horsepower and pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard on the XRT, while the other trims have standard front-wheel drive (FWD) with an option to upgrade to AWD. Cargo space ranges from 79.6 cubic feet behind the front seats to 40.5 cubic feet behind the second row to 14.6 cubic feet when all rows are occupied.

Most Santa Fe trims (when they’re properly equipped) can tow up to 3,500 pounds, but the more capable XRT can handle 4,500 pounds. The Santa Fe with FWD is EPA-rated to achieve 20 mpg around town and 29 on the open road; the highway fuel economy changes to 28 mpg with AWD. The Santa Fe XRT is rated to return 19 mpg in the city and 26 on the highway.

Standard Features

The Santa Fe SE is ready for the road with seven-passenger seating, fabric upholstery, a hands-free power liftgate, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and LED exterior lighting with automatic on/off. This entry level-edition also gets rear privacy glass, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, second-row vents, a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel, a 4.2-inch driver information display, heated side mirrors, four USB ports, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The SEL adds H-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a panoramic curved display, side-view mirrors with integrated turn indicators, third-row air vents, wireless device charging, raised roof rails, and Hyundai Digital Key (a smartphone app for vehicle access and operation without a physical key).

The launch of a new-generation Santa Fe also marks the return of the XRT trim, an adventure-ready edition that gives this crossover a unique street presence. The XRT expands on the SEL with dark chrome exterior treatments and exclusive black body cladding. But there’s more to the XRT than looks; Hyundai adds 30-inch all-terrain tires, increasing ground clearance by 1.5 inches. A standard sunroof lets the great outdoors in, and a 115-volt power outlet offers extra convenience wherever you go.

The Limited injects some luxury with a dual-pane sunroof, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row rear seats, an eight-way power front passenger seat, a heated steering wheel, a driver’s memory system, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It also has power-folding side mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear side-window sunshades, two third-row USB ports, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The Calligraphy expands on those upscale features with quilted Nappa leather upholstery, a massaging driver’s seat, second-row captain’s chairs (for six-person capacity), a head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

All 2024 Santa Fe trims come standard with SmartSense, a suite of driver-assist and safety features. This advanced technology includes forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction turning detection), lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, driver attention warning, rear occupant alert, and safe exit assist. All trims except the SE get a driver monitoring system to ensure that attention is directed forward. The XRT and above get highway driving assist (to help with lane centering and distance control). A surround-view monitor, a blind-spot view monitor, reverse parking collision-avoidance assist, and Remote Smart Parking Assist (semi-autonomous parking support) are exclusive to the Limited and Calligraphy. The Calligraphy also has blind-spot collision-avoidance assist and advanced highway driving assist.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The bigger and better Santa Fe provides every trim with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. The standard features are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth. The XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy add dynamic voice recognition and navigation. The Limited and Calligraphy load up their version of the system with a 12-speaker Bose sound system. All trims receive access to Bluelink+ connected services for emergency help and remote features.
