Trims, Electric Architecture, and Range

The SE, SEL, and Limited are your trim choices for the 2024 Ioniq 6. The electric motor configuration is dependent on whether the drivetrain is rear-wheel (standard) or all-wheel (optional). With RWD, the Ioniq 6 gets a single rear-axle motor generating 225 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, but with AWD an extra front-axle motor is added, increasing the output to 320 hp and 446 lb.-ft. of torque.

According to the official fuel-economy testing performed by the EPA, the RWD SE can travel up to 361 miles per charge, which is equivalent to 153 MPGe in the city and 127 MPGe on the highway. This figure dips to 316 miles (130 city/111 highway) with AWD. Meanwhile, both the RWD SEL and Limited will give you 305 miles of range, or 129 MPGe city/105 MPGe highway. Those same trims with AWD can travel up to 270 miles (111 city/94 highway) before needing a recharge.

Charging

Using a standard 120V Level 2 charger, the ’24 Ioniq 6 will gain an 80 percent charge in just under seven hours. Public DC fast charging is available if you need to juice up faster. At a 400V station, going from zero to 80 percent will take around 73 minutes, but using an ultra-fast 800V charger, it will take only 18 minutes to reach 80 percent charge.

Hyundai has also equipped the ’24 Ioniq 6 with a regenerative braking system, which captures kinetic energy formed during braking and routes it to the battery to incrementally extend range. The degree of regen can be controlled using the paddle shifters located on the steering wheel.

Prominent Features

The base SE gets some truly fine amenities, including automatic projector-type LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, auto-retracting flush door handles, a hands-free trunk, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and five USB ports (one data and four Type-A charging). The SE also comes with stain-resistant cloth seats, which are heated in the front row and feature convenient power adjustability for the driver. In the rear, the seats have a versatile 60/40-split and include a folding center armrest with cupholders.

The SEL is improved with H-Tex (simulated leather) upholstery, Digital Key, 64-color speed-sensing ambient interior lighting, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. Sitting at the top of the range, the Limited gets ventilated front seats, a power passenger’s seat, position memory for the driver, a heated steering wheel, power-folding side mirrors, a wide sunroof, and rain-sensing wipers, and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) onboard charging system, which will let you run devices such as laptops, TVs, or small appliances using the Ioniq 6’s stored power.

SmartSense Safety Aids

Bundled within every ’24 Ioniq 6 trim is the Hyundai SmartSense suite, a collection of advanced technologies consisting of blind-spot collision warning, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, front and rear parking sensors, forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and moving object detection, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, speed limit assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with highway driving assist, rear occupant alert, and automatic high beams. At the SEL level, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist is added along with an enhanced forward collision system with junction turning detection, machine-learning adaptive cruise control, and a more sophisticated highway driving assist system. The Limited is loaded with all of Hyundai’s safety features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist (self-parking), a blind-spot view monitor, a surround-view camera, and reverse parking collision-avoidance assist.

Infotainment

All three trims are treated to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that manages various multimedia and connectivity features, such as built-in navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. While the SE and SEL come with a straightforward multi-speaker sound system, the Limited gets a top-rate Bose unit for five-star audio quality.
