Trims, Powertrain, and Performance
Three trims are on tap with the all-wheel-drive 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid: Blue, SEL Premium, and Limited. The hybrid powertrain consists of a six-speed automatic transmission, a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine, and a pair of electric motors that produce a total system output of 226 hp. The Blue trim is slightly more efficient than the SEL Premium and Limited, returning an EPA-estimated 36 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The other two trims are officially rated to achieve 33 city/30 highway. The ’23 Santa Fe Hybrid can also tow up to 2,000 pounds with trailer brakes, which is enough to haul a small trailer or boat.
Standard Equipment
The base Blue offers plenty of bang for your buck. Among its most prominent features are LED exterior lights, heated front seats with driver’s power adjustments, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators and puddle lights, wireless phone charging, a hands-free liftgate, Digital Key, proximity entry, push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, two-zone automatic climate control, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. In the second row, the Blue treats its occupants right with manual sunshades, HVAC vents, deep-tinted rear glass, and power release/folding seats. Roof rails and an underfloor storage compartment in the cargo area increase the Santa Fe Hybrid’s capacity for gear.
The SEL Premium follows up with synthetic leather upholstery, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, premium door-sill plates, LED interior lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. At the top of the trim range, the Limited is loaded with the likes of projector-type headlights, rain-sensing wipers, power-folding side mirrors with memory, authentic leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and heating elements for the steering wheel and second-row seats. To top it off, the driver’s seat is elevated with a power leg-cushion extender and position memory.
Safety-Enhancing Driving Aids
Hyundai’s SmartSense safety suite is standard in the 2023 Santa Fe Hybrid, but it’s more extensive in the higher trims. The Blue features advanced forward collision-avoidance assist (with pedestrian, cyclist, and junction-turning detection), blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and curve control, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, highway driving assist, and rear occupant alert. The SEL Premium and above are enhanced with a blind-spot view monitor and a surround-view camera, while the Limited is issued front parking sensors and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
Next-Level Infotainment
This year, the Santa Fe Hybrid shows off a new infotainment system with a standard 10.25-inch touchscreen. It includes all of the sought-after multimedia features: navigation, dynamic voice recognition, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. The SEL Premium and Limited move up to a superior 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system that comes with Clari-Fi Music Restoration Technology and QuantumLogic surround sound.
