The ‘23 Palisade arrives with a crisply modern look featuring a wider grille with the model’s signature parametric shield design that’s flanked by vertically connected LED headlights and daytime running lights. It also shows off new multi-spoke alloy wheels and panoramic rear glass that helps the vehicle’s third row feel even more expansive. Around back, there are vertical LED taillights and skid plate detailing around the bumper.
Inside, the Palisade reveals an upgraded instrument panel with luxe ambient light themes. The steering wheel has been redesigned, too, and an Ergo-motion driver’s seat provides the highest level of comfort on both short and long trips. What’s more, the power-folding second row seats are now ventilated and have wing-out headrests; heated seats are available for the third row.
Some other upgrades worth mentioning on the ’23 Palisade are the enhanced 15-watt capacity wireless phone charger (the charger in last year’s model was a mere 5 watts), a full-display digital rearview mirror, an assortment of fast-charging USB-C ports, new Bluelink connected services, and Digital Key 2, which is now compatible with Apple devices. Additionally, the Palisade’s infotainment system gets a new 12.3-inch touchscreen with dynamic voice recognition that can control certain vehicle functions (like the A/C and tailgate) with a simple spoken command. Hyundai puts an expanded roster of critical safety features on every trim level as well.
Hyundai makes the ’23 Palisade in five trims: SE, SEL, the debuting XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy. Each comes with a 3.8-liter V6 engine that whisks out 291 hp and 262 lb.-ft. of torque joined to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is available. The maximum towing capacity across the range is 5,000 pounds, and according to the EPA, the FWD Palisades achieve an estimated 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, whereas those with AWD get 19 city/25 highway.
All ’23 Palisades teem with premium amenities. The SE (which can seat up to eight passengers) has LED headlights and daytime running lights, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, front and rear skid plates, proximity keyless entry, push-button ignition, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, five USB ports (one power/data and four USB-C power), a tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel with haptic touch buttons and transmission paddle shifters, 60/40-split second- and third-row seats, and a cargo-area underfloor storage compartment.
The SEL receives door-handle welcome lights, roof rails, LED taillights, a hands-free liftgate, Digital Key 2 (which turns your Apple or Android smartphone into the vehicle’s key), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, LED interior lighting, two-zone automatic climate control, H-Tex-upholstered seats that are heated and power-adjustable in the front row, second-row captain’s chairs (which reduce seating to seven), a HomeLink universal garage door opener, and a wireless phone charger.
The SEL qualifies for the content-rich Premium Package, which will issue an auto-leveling rear suspension, ventilated front seats, extra lumbar adjustments for the driver’s seat, position memory for the side mirrors and driver’s seat, heated and ventilated second-row seats, a cabin intercom, a sunroof, rear window sunshades, acoustic laminated glass, two third-row USB-C ports, a heated steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a 115-volt power outlet, and a few safety and infotainment upgrades (covered in the following sections).
The debuting XRT flaunts an exclusive appearance with its two-tone bumpers, black exterior elements, and black upholstery. The Limited builds off the SEL with the contents of the Premium Package, plus a dual-pane sunroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers, leather upholstery, a driver’s seat with thigh extension, a head-up display, heated third-row seats, and a premium cargo sill plate. At the height of the trim range, the Calligraphy provides side-mirror puddle lights and premium rear accent lighting, satin chrome exterior trim, Nappa leather upholstery, an Ergo-motion driver’s seat, quilted leather door panels, a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel, a frameless digital rearview mirror, ambient interior lighting, and wing-out headrests for the second-row seats.
The 2023 Hyundai Palisade gets an abundance of active safety technologies through the brand’s SmartSense suite. All trims have forward collision-avoidance assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane following assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning, safe exit assist, rear occupant alert, rear parking sensors, highway driving assist, and navigation-based adaptive cruise control. The SEL with the optional Premium Package added will get an improved forward collision system with lane change and evasive steering assist, in addition to front parking sensors, upgraded highway driving assist, a surround-view camera, and a live-feed blind-spot view monitor. Each of those comes standard in the Limited and Calligraphy, but the latter is extra special, as it adds Remote Smart Parking Assist and reverse parking-collision avoidance assist.
The ’23 Palisade passengers will enjoy a cutting-edge infotainment system that allows for multi-device connection. The standard system in the SE, SEL, and XRT includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, dynamic voice recognition, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio. With the Premium Package, the SEL will upgrade to a lavish 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, which is standard in the Limited and Calligraphy.
