Powertrain and Performance

The peppy, front-drive 2023 Hyundai Elantra N gets its gusto from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that excites 276 hp and 289 lb.-ft. of torque. While a six-speed manual transmission with automatic rev matching is that powerplant’s standard partner, you can opt for an eight-speed wet dual-clutch automatic. Hyundai has gifted the ’23 Elantra N with an electronically controlled sport-tuned suspension, a rear chassis brace for better handling and control, and the N Corner Carving Differential, which distributes more torque to the outer wheels to reduce understeer and maximize turning speed. Operators will also appreciate N Grin Shift, a special drive mode that provides a 20-second power burst.

Design and Equipment

The ’23 Elantra N cuts a daring aesthetic with its black exterior accents, wing-type rear spoiler, 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S summer performance tires, high-friction brakes with 14.2-inch ventilated front rotors, a throaty variable exhaust system with dual outlets, and signature front and rear bumpers and side sill moldings. It also has some excellent convenience features, like automatic LED headlights, heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a sunroof (included with automatic transmission models only), and the smartphone-based Digital Key. This performance sedan’s seating is upholstered in a blend of leather and microsuede with blue contrast stitching, with heated contoured sport seats in the front row. The beautifully crafted cabin also shows off an illuminated N logo, an N-stamped leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, customizable mood lighting with 64 colors, and alloy sport pedals.

For tech, the Elantra N receives a high-performance data screen showing a shift indicator, lap timer, an N track map, and other performance content. There are USB ports for charging and data, a wireless phone charger, and two 10.25-inch screens, one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment. Speaking of infotainment, the ’23 Elantra N’s system unites integrated navigation, dynamic voice recognition, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, HD radio, and a premium eight-speaker Bose.

Advanced Safety Features

In addition to its full set of airbags, the ’23 Elantra N is equipped with SmartSense, Hyundai’s signature suite of advanced driving aids. Those advanced technologies are forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, lane following assist, driver attention warning, safe exit warning, and rear parking sensors.
