2022 Hyundai Kona EV for Sale in Hyannis, MA
No more trips to the gas station? No more oil changes? That’s what the 2022 Hyundai Kona Electric is all about. This eco-friendly and highly practical subcompact crossover is one of the most coveted in its class, and for good reason. It retains all the best aspects of the gasoline model (such as its spacious and functional interior and sharp, athletic style), but with the added benefit of being powered by a fully electric, zero-emissions motor. The ’22 version comes with some new features, too. First off, it gets a styling update that includes new front and rear bumpers, new headlights and daytime running lights, a lower fender with sculpted vents, and new alloy wheel designs. Plus, the upgraded interior now delivers a standard 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a lower center-console storage area.
Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Economy
The ’22 Kona Electric is sold in SEL and Limited trim levels. Both are front-wheel drive and have an electric motor (201 hp and 291 lb.-ft. of torque), a 64-kWh battery pack, and a single-speed automatic transmission. With the standard 7.2-kW onboard charger, the Kona Electric can achieve a full charge in 9 hours and 15 minutes. If you’re using the 50-kW Quick Charger, it will be juiced in 64 minutes, but with the 100-kW Quick Charger, charging time drops to a mere 47 minutes.
According to EPA estimates, the SEL and Limited both have an all-electric driving range of 258 miles and return 132 MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline equivalent) in the city and 108 MPGe on the highway. Not only that, the ’22 Kona Electric has a useful regenerative braking feature, where kinetic energy from the stopping process is converted into electric power and stored in the battery.
